Privacy policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
- Cherry IPTV Player is a player only. You sign in with the details from your own TV provider.
- Your provider username and password are kept on your device, encrypted, and go only to your provider. We never receive them.
- Your favourites, history and settings stay on your device.
- No ads, no advertising or analytics tools, and we never sell your data. This website sets no cookies.
Cherry IPTV Player is not on Google Play yet. This policy describes the app as it is built today. We will check it again before the Google Play release and change the date above if anything is different.
1. Who we are
Cherry IPTV Player is made by a small independent developer ("we", "us"). For any question about this policy or your data, send us a message.
2. What the app keeps on your device
These are saved only on your phone or TV and are not sent to us.
- Your provider sign-in: the server address, username and password you type, encrypted with Android's secure key store.
- The lists from your provider: channels, films, series and the TV guide, so the app opens quickly.
- What you watched: Continue watching, where you stopped in each film or episode, recently watched channels.
- Your choices: favourites and their order, the order of categories, hidden categories, the look, playback settings.
- Downloads: films and episodes you choose to download from your provider. They are kept in the app's own folder.
Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android's settings, removes all of this.
3. What the app sends, and where
To your TV provider
To show and play your channels, films and series, the app connects to the provider you chose and sends it your username and password, as any player does. What your provider does with them is covered by its own terms. We have no link with any provider and do not sell or supply subscriptions.
To our service: the device check
When the app opens, and every 10 minutes or so while it is open, it checks with our service whether it may be used on this device (a free trial, or access switched on with a code). This sends:
- a device code: a scrambled number made from Android's ID for this app on this device. It is not your phone number, IMEI or Google account;
- the device's maker and model, the app version, and a mark of the certificate the app was signed with (to spot altered copies);
- a one-way login mark: a short scrambled code made from your provider's server name and your username. It cannot be turned back into either, and never includes your password;
- a short health summary: whether the app is signed in, how many channels, films and series loaded, when something last played and how long it took to start, and how long the app has been used;
- a join code, only if you type one in.
To our service: film and series information
To show posters, the story, rating and cast, the app sends the name and year of a film or series to our service, which looks it up at The Movie Database (TMDB). No sign-in details are sent. Versions up to 0.16.5 also send the device code with these look-ups; our service only checks that one is there and does not keep it. Newer versions send the same word from every device instead. The pictures themselves (posters, cast photos) are loaded by your device straight from TMDB's picture server. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
To our service: crash notes and problem reports
If the app closes by itself, it sends a crash note. If you choose Report a problem, it sends your report. These contain the technical details of the fault, the device code, the app version, your playback settings, the name of what was playing, a few playback numbers (speed of the connection, pauses to load) and any words you typed. The app removes addresses before sending, and they never contain your provider address, username or password. We use them only to fix problems.
To TV guide websites
For some channels the app adds a free TV guide from public guide files (mitthu786.github.io, iptv-epg.org and epgshare01.online). Your device downloads these files directly, only when your provider has channels from the countries they cover. Like any website, those sites see your device's internet address. Nothing else is sent to them.
Sign in with your phone
If you use Sign in with your phone, your phone sends your sign-in details straight to your TV over your home network, locked so only that TV can read them. They do not pass through our service.
Voice search
If you search by speaking, Android's own speech service (usually Google's) turns your voice into text. The app receives only the text.
Your internet address
Our service sees the internet address each request comes from, as every website does. We use it only to count attempts (new devices, join codes, reports, messages from this website) to stop abuse; those counts are forgotten within a day. It is not kept with your device's record.
4. This website and the contact form
This website has no cookies, no analytics and no advertising, and loads nothing from other companies. If you send us a message, we keep what you typed (your name, your message, and the email, phone number and app version if you gave them) on our service so that we can read and answer it. It is deleted when we have dealt with it, and in any case after 30 days. Nothing is sent on to anyone else.
5. What we never do
- We show no ads and use no advertising, analytics or tracking tools.
- We never sell or rent your data, and never share it for advertising.
- We never receive your provider username or password.
- The app does not ask for your location, contacts, photos or files.
6. Who handles data for us
- Cloudflare runs our service and this website, and stores the device records, crash notes, reports and messages.
- TMDB receives film and series names from our service, and your device's requests for pictures.
All connections between the app and our service are encrypted (HTTPS). Connections to your provider are as secure as your provider makes them.
7. How long we keep it
- Device records: a device that was never switched on beyond its free trial is deleted about 30 days after its trial ended and it was last seen. A device whose access was switched on is kept while it uses the app, until it is removed; you can ask for that at any time.
- Crash notes, problem reports and messages from this website: until we have dealt with them, and at most 30 days.
- Counts by internet address: one day at most.
- Film and series look-ups: not stored with anything that identifies you.
8. Children
Cherry IPTV Player is meant for adults who have their own TV subscription. It is not made for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The app plays whatever your provider sends, so take care if children use the TV. If you think a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
9. Your choices and rights
- You can delete everything on your device by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
- You can ask us for a copy of, or the deletion of, the device record, crash notes and reports linked to your device. Send us a message with the device code shown in the app's Settings, Advanced. We answer within 30 days.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top, and for important changes tell you in the app.
11. Contact
Use the contact form.
